Ernst & Young Adds WWJ-Radio as a Sponsor of the Automotive News Pace AwardsDETROIT, Dec. 10 -- Ernst & Young LLP today announced that WWJ News Radio 950 has become the exclusive broadcast sponsor of the Automotive News PACE(TM) Awards. The annual PACE (Premier Automotive Suppliers' Contributions to Excellence) Awards, co-founded by Automotive News and Ernst & Young, recognize auto suppliers for demonstrated leadership in innovation, technological advancements and business performance. Sponsoring the Pace Awards strengthens WWJ's service to the large audience segment that follows the progress of the automotive industry and the companies leading this growth. WWJ, as part of its sponsorship, will profile finalists and winners through select broadcast programming and its World Wide Web site. WWJ also will provide updates on the annual program, now in its fifth year. In November, Ernst & Young and Automotive News announced the finalists for the 1999 awards, to be presented in March. An independent panel of PACE judges is now selecting winners for breakthrough achievements in a wide range of operational activities: * Process capabilities, such as order management, supplier management, or manufacturing * Product characteristics, such as engineering or environmental compliance * Business areas, such as sales, HR, finance, or office management * Company values and relationships with employees, customers and shareholders, and * Management skills applied to turning around or repositioning a declining company. The 1999 PACE Awards finalists are ASHA Corporation; Benteler Automotive Corporation; CEC Consultants, Inc.; Collins & Aikman Products Company; Dana Corporation, Modules & Systems Group; Delphi Automotive Systems; Engelhard Corporation; The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company; Johnson Controls, Inc.; LMI SAMI; Meritor Automotive, Inc.; Motorola, Inc.; NRI Industries, Inc.; Petoskey Plastics, Inc.; Stackpole Ltd., Teleflex, Inc.; Textron Automotive Company, Inc.; and Transmission Technologies Corporation. Six winners, chosen from among 14 finalists, were honored at the 1998 PACE Awards ceremony: Gentex Corporation, Benteler Automotive, Prince, a Johnson Controls Company, Durr Industries, Wagner Lighting Division/Cooper Automotive, and Eaton Corporation. This year, the PACE judges will again honor semi- finalists. Introduced in 1998, this category gives more companies an opportunity to gain recognition and take home PACE honors.
