U.S. Share of Global Aftermarket is Larger Than Expected, Reports Motor & Equipment Manufacturers AssociationRESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., Dec. 10 -- The U.S. share of the global automotive aftermarket product usage is larger than would be expected if the only factor were number of vehicles, reports the Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association. In fact, a recent look by the Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association at the size of the worldwide parts aftermarket shows that the U.S. share is more than half of the global total (53%) although it has only 32% of the world's vehicles. Founded in 1904, MEMA exclusively represents and serves more than 700 U.S. manufacturers of motor vehicle components, tools and equipment, automotive chemicals, and related products used in the production, repair, and maintenance of all classes of motor vehicles. MEMA is headquartered in Research Triangle Park, N.C., and has offices in Washington, D.C.; Detroit, Mich.; Yokohama, Japan; Brussels, Belgium; Mexico City, Mexico; and Sao Paulo, Brazil.
