Dodge Caravan and Plymouth Voyager Named CONSUMERS DIGEST 'Best Buys'AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Dec. 10 -- CONSUMERS DIGEST magazine named 1999 Dodge Caravan and Plymouth Voyager as "Best Buys" for the eleventh year in a row in its December annual buyer's guide issue. "When it comes to sheer versatility, DaimlerChrysler's minivans have long been the champions," writes Managing Editor Jim Gorzelany. "They hold the biggest piece of the pie because they give you the most choices. With a choice of two overall lengths, four different engines and hundreds of options, Dodge Caravan and Plymouth Voyager fit a lot of different needs." CONSUMERS DIGEST defines a "Best Buy" as a product that is nationally available and offers outstanding value for its price. Judging criteria include independent testing, research studies, reader surveys, previous published evaluations, quality of retail dealers and service departments, and personal evaluations by authors and researchers. "We're delighted that CONSUMERS DIGEST has identified our minivans as 'Best Buys'," said James P. Holden, DaimlerChrysler Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing and General Manager of Minivan Operations. "It's an honor to be recognized in a market segment in which we have been the leading edge for more than 15 years. Despite new competition, we've been able to continue our dominance in this critical part of the overall vehicle market." Since 1983, DaimlerChrysler has sold over seven million minivans. The company sells approximately 700,000 minivans worldwide every year and has a 45 percent market share in the North American minivan market segment. Industry-wide, minivans account for approximately eight percent of all new vehicles sold in the United States. DaimlerChrysler minivans, which include Dodge Caravan, Plymouth Voyager and Chrysler Town & Country, are manufactured in St. Louis, Missouri; Windsor, Canada; and Graz, Austria.
