Prime Response Demonstrates Industry-Leading Scalability and Performance of its Prime Vantage Campaign Management Software

    DENVER--Dec. 8, 1998--

Software first to pass 100 million row test; helps companies
control large customer information challenges and recoup data
    warehouse investment

Prime Response, a marketing automation solutions provider offering the leading campaign management software, today announced proof that its Prime Vantage(tm) software can keep pace as customer information grows to hundreds of millions of rows.
For companies who recognize that harnessing customer information enables them to offer better products and services and increase customer loyalty and profitability, the tests performed at Hewlett-Packard Company's Cupertino Capacity Planning Center, show that the Prime Vantage software can deliver.
"The bottom line is that companies are managing more customer information than ever - they want to do it fast and they want to use applications that will grow along with their customer base," said Bob Fetter, president and chief executive officer of Prime Response Inc. "By subjecting the software to such a large spectrum of 'stress tests,' HP has represented a real-world environment that demonstrates Prime Vantage's superior performance across varied database sizes as well as its capacity to keep pace with growing information demands.
Distinguished by its ability to conduct and automatically execute event-triggered campaigns, Prime Vantage is the most widely installed campaign management software in the world based on open systems and client/server technology. Marketers use Prime Vantage to concentrate on the most profitable customer relationships - planning, analyzing, executing and tracking programs that increase customer loyalty and profitability. Winner of the Institute of Direct Marketing's gold and silver awards for Marketing Database Software, Prime Vantage is supported by a strong commitment to research and development and offers a quick return on investment.
"This test demonstrates how HP and Prime Vantage are providing a powerful marketing automation solution to scale for terabytes of data," said Patrick Rogers, worldwide marketing manager of HP's High Performance Systems Division. Rogers noted that the Prime Vantage tests were particularly exemplary because they employed process-intensive queries that require greater system resources than demanded by the average user. "Companies with an ever-increasing base of customers need the performance, scalability and availability to integrate growth rates seamlessly."

    The Tests
HP tested Prime Vantage using databases of one, ten and 100 million rows on an HP 9000 V-Class Enterprise Server, with 540 gigabytes of external disk arrays, accessing an Oracle RDBMS 7.3.3. The testing scenarios employed robust queries using standard query language, multiple levels of segmentation and calculated fields to simulate real-world use of the software. In each scenario, the processing rate per million rows demonstrated a linear (1:1) relationship between the increase in data load and the increase in processing time.
Recent test results indicate that the V2500 can more than double Prime Vantage's processing rate by taking full advantage of the server's new 440MHZ processor speeds and expanded I/O capacities. With the new scalable computing architecture, 128 CPUs will provide maximum headroom for terabytes of data. Designed to demonstrate the superior scalability, performance and functionality of the Prime Vantage application, the tests are among a comprehensive benchmarking program run by Prime Response. The company regularly tests Prime Vantage to ensure the application's performance integrity as the company expands its platforms and operating systems.
