Budget Group Vice Chairman John P. Kennedy to Retire

    DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., Dec. 7 -- Budget Group, Inc. ,
today announced that John Kennedy, vice chairman, 54, will retire late next
year.  He will continue to serve on Budget Group's Board of Directors.
Kennedy has been a business partner with Budget Group chairman and CEO Sandy
Miller and vice chairman Jeff Congdon since 1985.  Together they owned and
operated a number of Budget franchises throughout the United States.
    Kennedy's car rental career spans three decades, beginning in 1966 when he
joined Avis.  Throughout the past 13 years, Kennedy has made significant
contributions to the Budget System by helping expand and strengthen the Budget
franchise locations owned by Miller-Congdon-Kennedy and, from 1994 to 1997, as
president of publicly held Team Rental Group, Inc. (now Budget Group, Inc.).
Since 1997 when Budget Group acquired Budget Rent a Car Corporation, Kennedy
has been vice chairman, responsible for overseeing Budget's international
operations.
    Jean-Claude Ghiotti, president and chief operating officer, Budget Rent a
Car International, Inc., will take over responsibility for overseeing all
Budget Rent a Car operations in Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia-Pacific.
Ghiotti, a 27-year veteran of the Hertz Corporation, joined Budget in August.
