Oracle Adds European Automotive Solution with the Acquisition of Expanxion SA
   Manages Electronic Communications Between European Automotive Suppliers;
Complies with ODETTE, EDIFACT, and VDA Standards

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif., Dec. 7 -- Oracle Corp. today
announced the acquisition of Expanxion SA, based in Lille, France, a leading
provider of software solutions for automotive equipment suppliers in Europe.
As part of the agreement, Oracle has hired all former employees of Expanxion
SA.
This acquisition will bolster Oracle's strong automotive "Concept-to-
Care"(TM) offering by providing a Europe-specific automotive solution that
includes support for trading partner requirements for integrated electronic
data interchange (EDI), release accounting and control, bar-coding, logistics,
and inventory. Expanxion SA's leading product, GALION, is used by more than
150 customers throughout Europe. GALION was developed specifically for
European automotive suppliers and manages electronic communications between
automotive trading partners.
The GALION software complies with the Organization for Data Exchange
through Tele-Transmission in Europe (ODETTE) standard for the automotive
industry as well as the United Nations' Electronic Data Interchange for
Administration Commerce and Transport (EDIFACT) and the German Verband Der
Automobilindustrie (VDA) standards. The product is available immediately
through Oracle as a best-of-breed component to Oracle's automotive solution,
creating a truly global offering.
"Currently, Oracle offers a solid, best-of-breed solution for North
American automotive manufacturers," said Don Klaiss, vice president,
manufacturing products, Oracle Corporation. "Adding GALION to our product
line creates a comprehensive solution and base of expertise that addresses the
specific needs of European automotive suppliers, and addresses the global
nature of automotive manufacturing today."
"The European automotive industry is a key target market for Oracle
Applications," said Sergio Giacoletto, senior vice president, business
solutions, Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), Oracle Corporation. "This
acquisition enables Oracle to offer our customers the most compelling
automotive solution in Europe, and gives our customers the opportunity to gain
a significant advantage in this competitive marketplace."
"Oracle customers will benefit immediately from having a Europe-specific
automotive solution that addresses the needs of all the trading partners in
the automotive supply chain," said Louis Minne, who was chief executive
officer, Expanxion SA, prior to the acquisition.
