Nissan Names Phil Maxwell to Vice President of Information Systems

Nissan Names Phil Maxwell to Vice President of Information Systems
    CARSON, Calif., Dec. 3 -- Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA)
recently appointed Phil Maxwell to the newly created position of vice
president of information systems (IS).  In this position, Maxwell is
responsible for all information systems activities and functions, including
applications development, data center operations, technical support and
telecommunications at NNA, Nissan Motor Corporation (NMC), Nissan Motor
Acceptance Corporation (NMAC) and Nissan Data Center (NDC).  He is also
leading the consolidation of NNA, NMC, NMAC and NDC's information systems
organizations under one company -- NNA.  Most recently he held the position of
director of information systems for NMAC.
    "This consolidation is consistent with our 'Back to Basics' strategy,"
said Minoru Nakamura, president and CEO of Nissan North America, Inc.  "The
new IS organization will lead to faster decision making, higher efficiency and
improved coordination and will focus our resources where they are needed."
    Prior to joining Nissan in 1993, Maxwell held the positions of vice
president of home video information systems for the Walt Disney Company;
director of route management systems for Coca-Cola Enterprises; and group
manager of applications for Frito-Lay.
    Before entering the corporate world, Maxwell spent six years in the U.S.
Air Force as a captain, instructor navigator.
    Maxwell holds a bachelor's degree in mathematics from the University of
Arkansas and completed his graduate work at California State University,
Sacramento.  He currently resides in Colleyville, Texas with his wife, Lori.
    Nissan has invested more than $2 billion in the United States to establish
facilities for its design, research and development, manufacturing, sales,
consumer and corporate financing, and marketing operations.  Nearly 70 percent
of the Nissan trucks and cars sold in America are built in America.  Last
year, Nissan purchased more than $4.2 billion in parts and materials from
U.S.-based suppliers.
