Suppliers Recognized with Chrysler Corporation Awards

Suppliers Recognized with Chrysler Corporation Awards
AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Dec. 2 -- Fourteen Chrysler suppliers
were honored with the 1998 Platinum Pentastar Award on Tuesday, Dec. 1, at the
DaimlerChrysler Technology Center in Auburn Hills. Nine other Chrysler
suppliers were also recognized with 1998 Role Model Awards.
The Platinum Pentastar awards represent achieving outstanding overall
performance as measured by the former Chrysler Corporation's supplier rating
systems for the 1998 model year. Role Model awards are presented to suppliers
that exhibit exemplary performance in a specific rating category of the rating
systems.
"Together, as members of the Extended Enterprise (TM), each of us had a
direct role in the success of the company," said Tom Sidlik, DaimlerChrysler
Corporation Executive Vice President-Procurement and Supply and General
Manager Jeep(R) Operations, who hosted the key supplier meeting and award
ceremony. "Today, each of us has an even greater stake in the success of the
new DaimlerChrysler, because we now contribute to the growth of a truly global
enterprise -- an enterprise that is already a powerful contributor to the
world economy, and soon to be even more powerful," said Sidlik.
The event was attended by representatives from the top 180 suppliers. In
addition to Sidlik, DaimlerChrysler Chairman Bob Eaton and Tom Stallkamp,
President-DaimlerChrysler Corporation, addressed the group.
"This is not only a day to celebrate the achievements of the past year
with our top suppliers, but it is also a day to celebrate the future -- a
future few of us could have imagined just one year ago," said Eaton. "It's
not an understatement to say we wouldn't be having this celebration without
our top suppliers, because each were instrumental in helping Chrysler become a
truly great company. And I know each will play an equally important role in
helping us make the new DaimlerChrysler one of the top industrial corporations
in the world.
I'd like to say thanks on behalf of the old Chrysler Corporation, its
shareholders and employees, and thanks from me personally -- for everything
each of our top suppliers has contributed to the ongoing success of this
company," concluded Eaton.
