Mazda Announces November Sales and Best Year-To-Date Since 1996; Mazda Continues Turnaround in North America
IRVINE, Calif., Dec. 2 -- Mazda North American Operations
(MNAO) reported U.S. sales of 13,275 units for the month of November, a
0.7 percent increase over the same period last year. Continuing its
turnaround in North America, MNAO posted its fifth straight month of
year-over-year sales gains in November. Mazda is up 8 percent on a
year-to-date basis versus last year, with the best year-to-date performance
since 1996.
The models with the greatest sales increases in November were the all-new
Miata roadster, up 56 percent over last November, and the all-new 1999 Protege
compact sedan, which totaled 3,821 units, up 29 percent from last November.
Mazda's B-Series 4x2 pickup also enjoyed a successful month with sales
reaching 2,188, a 14 percent increase.
With an all-new 2000 MPV minivan arriving this spring, Mazda expects sales
of the new model to increase dramatically. Now arriving in dealer showrooms,
sales of the 1999 Millenia luxury sport sedan are expected to increase
beginning in early 1999.
Mazda North American Operations is responsible for the research and
development, sales and marketing, and customer parts and service support of
Mazda vehicles in the United States. Headquartered in Irvine, Calif., MNAO
has approximately 800 dealerships nationwide and is owned by Mazda Motor
Corporation, Hiroshima, Japan.
