Volkswagen's Records Best November Results in 13 Years - Up 45 Percent

    AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Dec. 2 -- With sales of 14,345,
Volkswagen of America, Inc. reported its best November sales results since
1985.
    This figure represents a 45.4 percent increase over last year's November
figure of 9,863.
    For the year, Volkswagen also is well ahead of last year's pace.  Year-to-
date, Volkswagen has sold 201,729 new cars, up 63 percent over the same period
in 1997 when sales were 125,769.
    Volkswagen's results were buoyed in part by the continued success of the
New Beetle and Passat models.  New Beetle sales for November were 6,180,
giving it a total of 48,326 sales for the year.  November's Passat results
were 3,194, an increase of 115 percent over last year's mark of 1,487.
