Ameritech Roadside Assistance Is a Flexible, Affordable Alternative to Traditional Emergency Programs
New Service "Follows" Customers' Cellular Phones

CHICAGO, Nov. 30 -- Responding to consumers who cite
emergency assistance as a highly desired feature of their cellular phones,
Ameritech has introduced a roadside assistance service that
provides flexible coverage for the entire family and costs 35 percent less
than most motor club memberships.
Ameritech Roadside Assistance(SM) is a transferable and affordable
alternative to motor club or auto manufacturer programs. Unlike other
roadside assistance programs, Ameritech's service enables customers to pay on
a monthly basis, without signing any long-term contracts or paying for the
service all at once. For 10 cents a day, Ameritech Roadside Assistance
provides prompt, reliable and nationwide auto service to stranded motorists
via their cellular phone.
Ameritech has partnered with Road Rescue Inc., a Chicago-area company
that specializes in roadside assistance programs, to jump-start a battery,
provide a tow, change a flat tire or even deliver free gasoline if the tank
runs dry, regardless of when or where customers experience trouble.
Ameritech's service offers four distinct advantages:
    -- Flexibility to pay for the service on a monthly basis;
    -- No limit on the number of drivers, passengers and vehicles protected;
-- Annual fees cost 35 percent less than most auto club memberships; and
-- Customers choose the towing destination for the stranded vehicle -- it
isn't automatically delivered to the responding service station.

Ameritech Roadside Assistance is especially beneficial for busy families
with multiple drivers. "Since this service follows your cell phone,
parents can hand their teenager the phone with the car keys and have
greater peace of mind. Our service even covers family members who are
passengers in someone else's car, as long as they have their cell phone
with them," said Ken Hallman, marketing director of Ameritech cellular
services.
Ameritech Roadside Assistance can be ordered directly by calling
888-691-2251, or by visiting an Ameritech Communication Center or
participating dealer. For store or dealer locations, please call
800-MOBILE-1 (800-MOBILE-4 in the St. Louis area).
Ameritech serves millions of customers in 50 states and 40 countries.
Ameritech provides a full range of communications services including local and
long-distance telephone and data, cellular, paging, security, cable TV,
Internet and more. One of the world's 100 largest companies, Ameritech
(http://www.ameritech.com) has 71,000 employees, 1 million shareowners and more than
$29 billion in assets.
