AK Steel Earns Nissan Quality Award for Seventh Consecutive Year
    MIDDLETOWN, Ohio, Nov. 25 -- AK Steel Corporation
has earned Nissan Motor Manufacturing Corporation U.S.A.'s Quality Master
Award for the seventh consecutive year.  Nissan presents the award annually to
its suppliers.  No other integrated steel producer has won the award for more
than two consecutive years.
    "We are honored by this prestigious recognition for continuing to meet
Nissan's rigorous quality, delivery and service standards," said Richard M.
Wardrop, chairman and chief executive officer of AK Steel.  "It also serves to
reinforce AK Steel's position as the premier flat-rolled steel supplier to the
automotive industry."
    AK Steel has won Nissan's Quality Master Award 11 times since becoming a
supplier to Nissan in 1987.
    AK Steel supplies Nissan's Smyrna, Tennessee plant with cold-rolled,
nickel-terne, electrogalvanized and galvannealed steels.  AK Steel serves
every major domestic and foreign-owned automker in the U.S.
