ICSA to Offer TruSecure IPSec Security Assurance Service to ANX Subscribers

    RESTON, Va.--Nov. 23, 1998--

Service to Secure Implementation of IPSec Products

ICSA Inc. Monday announced TruSecure(TM) IPSec, a new security assurance service for participants in the Automotive Industry Action Group's (AIAG) Automotive Network eXchange(R) (ANX(R)) network.
TruSecure IPSec is an annual service that provides on-site assistance to configure an ANX subscriber's VPN product and to test the subscriber's computer security posture.
The ANX(R) network is a service initiative developed by the AIAG to provide secure, high-quality virtual private networking solutions for the automotive industry. Launched on Nov. 1, 1998, the ANX service will be the world's largest business - to- business electronic commerce network, once fully deployed and link thousands of suppliers across the automotive industry.
The AIAG chose ICSA Inc. in January 1998 to perform rigorous IPSec interoperability testing and certification for all VPN products to be used on the ANX network.
"Because ICSA is the exclusive certification body for the VPN products deployed within the ANX infrastructure, we are uniquely qualified to assure the proper implementation of these products," said Peter Tippett, President of ICSA.
"TruSecure IPSec will strengthen the ANX network by assisting the trading partners to become properly connected. This will reduce the computer security risks that this added connectivity presents."

Service Designed to Protect ANX(R) Network Subscribers

TruSecure IPSec is a risk reduction service that evaluates and protects an organization's Internet perimeter and protects it from unauthorized access by significantly minimizing known vulnerabilities and methods of attack.
ICSA's TruSecure IPSec program combines remote electronic and on-site evaluations of a client's computer network to identify potential problem areas and services, and works with the client to close these holes and vulnerabilities in an orderly and easily achievable manner.
Purchased on an annual subscription basis, the TruSecure IPSec program continues to evaluate the client's system(s) at regular intervals against a constantly evolving set of threats and identified vulnerabilities.
"This new offering from ICSA promises to accelerate the growth and development of the ANX network and further assist the trading partner with the assurance of secure implementation of the ANX-based VPN," said Karl E. Schohl, ANX business manager at the AIAG.
"By assisting the trading partners to get their VPNs properly configured the TruSecure IPSec service will increase the speed by which the trading partners will come on-line.
"ICSA's service will then go beyond getting a trading partner connected, they will evaluate the security of that trading partner's networked computer system, helping to keep the ANX network environment safe."
Robert Moskowitz, the senior technical director of the ICSA IPSec Certification Program observed that, "The AIAG is developing the world's largest Extranet, an Internet Protocol-based trading network, which will tie together upwards of 40,000 manufacturers and suppliers.
"This represents the future of Electronic Commerce and ICSA is bringing together the VPN vendors, the security technologists and the business community with our own certification expertise to help the AIAG users build a secure network infrastructure."

    About TruSecure and TruSecure IPSec

TruSecure, introduced in April of 1998 is an independent and complete IP security assurance service. It is an integrated and continuous service that reduces the risk of damage by malicious attack to a company's valuable information systems.
In June of 1998 ICSA added "hacker" insurance as a guarantee of the effectiveness of TruSecure. Companies who are certified through the ICSA TruSecure program receive insurance coverage against malicious Internet attacks, whether or not they result in business loss.
TruSecure IPSec continuously improves the implementation, maintenance, physical security and interoperability issues associated with an organization's IPSec certified VPN. TruSecure IPSec is available as part of the TruSecure suite of services and is also sold separately.
