Nissan to Consolidate Remarketing Functions
Nissan Motor Acceptance Corporation to Assume
Remarketing Responsibilities of Nissan Motor Corporation U.S.A.

CARSON, Calif., Nov. 20 -- Nissan Motor Corporation U.S.A.
(NMC) announced today it will consolidate its Remarketing functions into one
single organization at Nissan Motor Acceptance Corporation (NMAC), effective
January 1, 1999. Merging these functions is another step forward in Nissan's
"Back to Basics" strategy, which has involved a review and analysis of all
Nissan business processes to allow for more rapid decision making.
"This is a logical move after the successful remarketing improvements
implemented this year. The consolidation will benefit our customers,
retailers and our valued employees, and will advance Nissan's commitment to
customer service excellence in our remarketing activities," said Yasuro Osawa,
senior vice president at NMAC.
The consolidation of Remarketing -- managing the lease portfolio and sales
of all used vehicles -- is consistent with Nissan's global reform plan. The
merger integrates the roles and responsibilities for dealing with Nissan's
lease customers from lease inception through the remarketing process, an
important part of Nissan's overall business plan. Furthermore, this move
consolidates all off-lease customer and retailer communications into one
entity, and creates a single, more efficient process for disposing of
remarketing vehicles. Employee headcount will be unaffected.
Nissan has invested more than $2 billion in the United States to establish
facilities for its design, research and development, manufacturing, sales,
consumer and corporate financing, and marketing operations. Nearly seventy
percent of Nissan cars and trucks sold in America are built in America. Last
year, Nissan purchased nearly $4 million in parts and materials from
U.S.-based suppliers.
Nissan employs more than 70,000 Americans, approximately 12,000 directly
and an additional 58,000 at 1,250 Nissan and Infiniti retailers nationwide.
