Alpine Chooses NAVTECH Database for New In-Vehicle System
19 November 1998
ADVISORY/Alpine Chooses NAVTECH Database for New In-Vehicle System To be Launched in Canada Today
--WHAT: Alpine Electronics, a leading manufacturer of high performance
Mobile electronics is announcing the launch of its Navigation and
Information System in Canada, featuring the NAVTECH database. The
NAVTECH database, from Navigation Technologies (NavTech),
incorporates an extensive and precise digital representation of
the road network that provides the depth, accuracy and coverage
needed to enable turn-by-turn, door-to-door route guidance. The
Navigation and Information System is an advanced in-vehicle
GPS/CD-ROM computer (Model NVA-NVN751AS) with a 5.6" LCD display
(Model TME-M006SA) that offers drivers "Door-to-Door" navigation
and a Points of Interest (POI) information database.
The NVA-N751AS utilizes the NAVTECH database to provide
turn-by-turn directions to places consumers need to go everyday,
such as an ATM, the closest restaurant or the shortest route to a
business meeting. Ultimately, drivers are more relaxed and
confident when assured they won't get lost. In-vehicle navigation
systems allow motorists to explore new routes, save travel time
and find their destinations with ease.
NavTech creates and sells the world's most widely-used navigation
database, used in every vehicle navigation system in North
America and the majority of those on the road in Europe.
