CERRITOS, Calif.--Nov. 18, 1998--IMPCO Technologies Inc. Wednesday announced it has received its third recognition this year as one of the leading small companies in the United States.
In its November issue, Forbes Magazine ranked IMPCO among the 200 best small companies in America based on sales, profits and a five-year average return on equity. Earlier this year, the Los Angeles Business Journal recognized IMPCO as one of the 100 most profitable companies, highlighting the company's 31.6 percent return on equity over the past five years.
Last March, the Chicago-based American Association of Individual Investors selected IMPCO as one of 333 small companies with the highest average annual earnings per share over the last five years. The association reported that IMPCO's earnings climbed nearly 22% on sales growth of 19.7% over the five-year period.
"We're pleased to have received this very positive recognition. Equally important, IMPCO's success reflects the global acceptance of alternative fuels and a commitment to lessen dependence on foreign oil and create a better environment through the use of clean-burning gaseous fuels," stated Robert M. Stemmler, IMPCO's president and chief executive officer.
He noted that alternative-fuel usage mandates for vehicle fleets associated with the U.S. Energy Policy Act of 1992, requiring 10 percent displacement of petroleum-based transportation fuels by the year 2000 and 30 percent by 2010, will be costly to those not in compliance.
"Air pollution is a global problem and one of the greatest challenges facing countries. We look forward to continued participation in this rapidly growing industry," Stemmler said.
IMPCO sells alternative fuel products and services worldwide. With headquarters in Cerritos, the company has additional facilities in Irvine, Calif.; Detroit; Seattle; Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; Mexico; Australia; the Netherlands; France; Germany; and the United Kingdom.
IMPCO is a market leader in the original equipment manufacturer marketplace and aftermarket for gaseous fuel management systems and components that allow internal combustion engines to operate on clean gaseous fuels such as propane and natural gas. IMPCO provides conversion systems for motor vehicles, forklifts, other material handling equipment, and small portable to large stationary engines.
