Delphi Automotive Systems Announces Senior OfficersTROY, Mich., Nov. 17 -- The proposed operating officers and senior staff of Delphi Automotive Systems were announced today by Delphi chairman, CEO and president J.T. Battenberg III. "Many members of this team have helped to mold the strategies which have positioned Delphi to become a successful public company," Battenberg said. "They will continue to mold the company to attain our goal of being recognized as the world's premier supplier of automotive systems, and to define the strategies which will give our people opportunities to grow with the company." Effective November 16, 1998, officers of Delphi's operating units are: David R. Heilman, 54, becomes president, Delphi Packard Electric Systems, and vice president, Delphi Automotive Systems. He had been a GM vice president and general manager of Delphi Packard Electric Systems since 1994. Prior to that Heilman had served in numerous engineering, manufacturing and product-related positions since joining GM in 1964. Guy Hachey, 43, becomes president, Delphi Chassis Systems, and vice president, Delphi Automotive Systems. He had been general manager of Delphi Chassis Systems since August 1998. Hachey joined General Motors in 1978. Rodney O'Neal, 45, becomes president, Delphi Interior Systems, and vice president, Delphi Automotive Systems. He had been a GM vice president and general manager of the former Delphi Interior & Lighting Systems since May 1997. Previously, O'Neal had been general director of warehousing and distribution for GM Service Parts Operations since 1994. Prior to that, he has served in numerous engineering and manufacturing positions for both GM and the former ACG. O'Neal joined GM in 1971. Ronald M. Pirtle, 44, becomes president, Delphi Harrison Thermal Systems, and vice president, Delphi Automotive Systems. Pirtle had been a GM vice president and general manager of Delphi Harrison Thermal Systems since November 1996. Pirtle has held numerous positions in engineering, financial and planning within GM. He is a Board member of Kettering University (formerly GMI) and the University of Pittsburgh School of Engineering. Pirtle joined GM in 1972. Donald L. Runkle, 53, becomes president, Delphi Energy & Engine Management Systems, and vice president, Delphi Automotive Systems. Runkle has been a GM vice president since 1988, and most recently general manager of Delphi Energy & Engine Management Systems since May 1996. Runkle joined General Motors in 1968. Paul J. Tosch, 58, becomes president, Delphi Saginaw Steering Systems, and vice president, Delphi Automotive Systems. Tosch had been a GM vice president and general manager of Delphi Saginaw Steering Systems since May 1997. He joined General Motors in 1963. David B. Wohleen, 48, becomes president, Delphi Delco Electronic Systems, and vice president, Delphi Automotive Systems. Wohleen had been a GM vice president and general manager of Delphi Delco Electronics Systems since August 1998. He joined General Motors in 1978. Volker A. Barth, 51, becomes president, Delphi South America and vice president, Delphi Automotive Systems. Barth had been president, Delphi South America since November 1996. He joined GM's Adam Opel subsidiary in 1963. William A. Ebbert, 55, becomes president, Delphi Asia Pacific and vice president of Delphi Automotive Systems. Ebbert had been president of Delphi Asia Pacific since July 1993. He joined General Motors in 1965. Hans J. Weiser, 60, becomes president, Delphi Europe, and vice president, Delphi Automotive Systems. Weiser had been a GM vice president and president of Delphi's European Operations. He joined Kabelweke Reinshagen GmbH in 1974. Additionally, the following senior staff was named. Each will report directly to Battenberg. John P. Arle, vice president, mergers, acquisitions and planning. Arle, 50, is responsible for venture development, mergers and acquisitions. He also will continue to lead the team orchestrating the separation of Delphi from General Motors. James A. Bertrand, vice president, operations. Bertrand, 41, oversees Delphi's engineering, facilities, quality, marketing and manufacturing staffs. John G. Blahnik, 44, vice president, treasurer. He will be responsible for corporate treasury functions. Ray C. Campbell, vice president, purchasing. Campbell, 55, has responsibility for procurement of all productive and indirect material, plus precious metals, for Delphi's operations around the world. Alan S. Dawes, vice president and chief financial officer. As previously announced, Dawes, 44, will oversee Delphi's finance, treasury and internal controls staffs. He previously was general manager of Delphi Chassis Division, based in Dayton. Karen L. Healy, vice president, corporate affairs. Healy, 44, is responsible for worldwide internal and external communications, community relations, the newly-established Delphi Foundation, government relations, corporate and board activities. Peter H. Janak, vice president and chief information officer. Janak, 59, will oversee Delphi's broad range of information systems, including hardware and software, and the migration to new information technology systems such as SAP in all of Delphi's operations around the world. Mark C. Lorenz, vice president, production control & logistics. Lorenz, 48, has responsibility for global logistics, production scheduling, material management and the integration of the Delphi supply chain into manufacturing operations. Mark R. Weber, vice president, human resources. Weber, 50, will direct personnel policy development, labor negotiations, employee compensation, benefits planning, recruiting, training, and medical/security administration for all Delphi operations worldwide. General Counsel for Delphi Automotive Systems will be announced at a later date. Each of those named will be a member of the Delphi Strategy Board, which is responsible for the overall strategy and operation of Delphi Automotive Systems.
