Lear Corporation Announces Key Executive Appointments
    SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Nov. 17 -- Lear Corporation
Chairman and CEO Kenneth L. Way today announced the appointment of Robert E.
Rossiter as President and Chief Operating Officer and James H. Vandenberghe as
Vice Chairman.  Both executives continue to report to Way.
    "The global market place is changing and it is important that we structure
our operations to better serve this environment," Way said, in announcing the
appointments.  "In the last several years, Lear has grown tremendously, fueled
by new business and acquisitions, and that has made it imperative for us to
leverage the talent, capabilities and leadership of a unified company to
continue to meet the needs of our customers."
    In his new position, Rossiter will be responsible for all customer-focused
divisions, as well as the Technology Division and the Purchasing and
Engineering operations.  He has most recently served as President and Chief
Operating Officer -- International Operations, overseeing Lear operations
outside of North America from the company's international headquarters in
Sulzbach, Germany.
    Rossiter joined Lear in 1971, starting in the Automotive Division's
Material Control Department of Lear Siegler Inc., (LSI).  He held positions in
production control, sales and sales management prior to being named Vice
President - Sales for General Seating Division (GSD) in 1979 and later adding
responsibilities as Vice President of Operations.  He became GSD President in
1984, and a Director and President of Lear in 1988.
    Rossiter and his wife, Pamela, reside in Bad Soden, Germany.  They have
two grown children.
    As Vice Chairman, Vandenberghe will be responsible for all Finance,
Systems, Legal, Mergers & Acquisitions, Human Resources, Corporate Relations
and Joint Venture operations.
    Vandenberghe, who is a Director of Lear, has been with the company for
more than 25 years.  He most recently served as President and Chief Operating
Officer -- North American Operations, a position he assumed in 1997.  He began
his career with Lear Siegler, Inc. (LSI), in 1973 as a financial analyst.  His
prior positions include Vice President - Finance for the company's Plastics
and General Seating divisions, as well as Operations Manager for General
Seating Division.  In 1988, Vandenberghe became Senior Vice President --
Finance, Chief Financial Officer and Secretary.
    A native of Grosse Pointe Woods, Vandenberghe received a bachelor's degree
in business administration from Western Michigan University and an MBA from
Wayne State University.   He and his wife Sandra have two children and reside
in Grosse Pointe Shores.
