Canadian Tire To Drive Continued Supply Chain Improvements with Industri-Matematik
MARLTON, N.J.--Nov. 17, 1998--
Canada's Market-Leading Hardgoods Retailer Selects
Industri-Matematik's Supply Chain Execution Software Suite
Industri-Matematik International Corp. today announced Canadian Tire Corporation, Limited, Canada's largest hardgoods retailer, has selected Industri-Matematik's Supply Chain Execution Software Suite to help it continue to drive supply chain improvement. Canadian Tire will use Industri-Matematik software to help distribute products to its 430 Associate Stores across Canada at the lowest possible cost with the best possible service and quality.
To maintain its leadership position, Canadian Tire will deploy Industri-Matematik's System ESS(R) advanced order fulfillment software to streamline its replenishment processes, reduce inventories and speed order cycle times. The system will support fast, efficient demand replenishment by driving distribution requirements directly from the "pull" of the marketplace.
Industri-Matematik software will support Canadian Tire across all its nationwide Associate Dealers, managing the order fulfillment process for approximately 85,000 SKUs (stock-keeping units) of automotive parts and accessories, as well as sports, leisure and home products. The software will also help Canadian Tire support complex pricing and promotion requirements, which are generated by weekly promotional flyers nationwide.
According to Canadian Tire, an important selection factor was the high-volume order processing capabilities of System ESS. The software will provide the performance and power to help Canadian Tire support the substantial volume of order-lines per day that its distribution operations generate.
"Canadian Tire stands out in the market because of the company's single-minded determination to be the most customer responsive retailer in Canada," said John Geraci, president, North American operations at Industri-Matematik. "Our supply chain suite will help them deliver customer-driven service that places dynamic customer requirements at the center of the decisions and logistics activities of the enterprise. This win demonstrates the strategic value that Industri-Matematik's solutions bring to suppliers of fast-moving, high-volume products."
System ESS, which will operate on an IBM UNIX server and Oracle database, will be integrated with existing Manugistics supply chain planning and PeopleSoft financials applications. Currently, Canadian Tire manages logistics operations with a mainframe-based legacy application.
The System ESS software suite synchronizes customer-driven supply chains. It manages complex pricing structures, promotional activities, delivery methods and billing procedures to maximize customer satisfaction and profitability. The suite's advanced warehouse management component optimizes distribution center resources, including labor, space, equipment and inventory, and enables efficient day-to-day processes, such as product receiving, putaway, order processing, picking, packing and shipping.
System ESS software supports Java-based clients that make it easy and cost-effective for companies to conduct business over the Web. The software includes comprehensive tools that allow companies to measure the performance and profitability of their products - helping them connect business strategies to supply chain operations. It is both Year 2000 and Eurocurrency compliant, and has been designed to enable complete ERP system integration.
