Lutz Statement on Being Named CEO of Exide Corp.
ANN ARBOR, Mich., Nov. 16 -- Exide Corporation
today announced the election of Robert A. Lutz as Chairman, President and
Chief Executive. He assumes this role December 1.
Lutz issued the following statement on the new position:
"I am very pleased and proud to have been elected CEO of Exide and am
anxiously looking forward to the challenges of this position.
"My first weeks with Exide will be ones of rapid learning. I plan to
spend as much time as possible visiting the Exide facilities in the United
States and Europe, meeting as many Exide staff members as is practical. I
have a lot to learn and will evaluate the situation before making any major
announcements.
"And, since I am a 'product freak,' the engineers should be prepared to
let me know what's new and exciting in battery technology, including some of
the areas we might want to pursue.
"I am on record, both in my speeches and the pages of my book [Guts, The
Seven Laws of Business That Made Chrysler the World's Hottest Car Company],
with specific ideas on how a business should run and should be run," he said.
"I plan to put my principles, concepts, 'Lutz's Laws,' into practice to help
make Exide not only the biggest, best and most profitable battery company in
the world, but also one of the most respected Fortune 500 companies, period!"
