A. Schulman Names Alain Adam Vice President - International Automotive Operations; Executive VP Larry Kushkin Retires

    AKRON, Ohio--Nov. 16, 1998--A. Schulman Inc. has promoted Alain C. Adam to the position of Vice President - International Automotive Operations, responsible for sales and application development activities in the automotive industry. At the same time, the Company announced that Larry A. Kushkin, Executive Vice President - International Automotive Operations, is leaving the Company for health reasons.
    "During his 34 years of service, Larry Kushkin has made significant contributions to A. Schulman," said Terry L. Haines, President and Chief Executive Officer. "Even though we are saddened by Larry's departure, I am pleased to appoint Alain Adam to this well-deserved promotion. Larry will remain available to facilitate an orderly transition of this important business unit."
    Adam joined A. Schulman in 1985 as general manager of automotive marketing and was most recently Vice President - Automotive Marketing. Prior to joining A. Schulman, Adam spent 12 years with DuPont working in several positions, including elastomer manufacturing and automotive application development. He holds a bachelor's degree in aeronautical and mechanical engineering from California Polytechnic State University.
    Adam is based at the company's Detroit, Michigan facility. He, his wife Lorene and their two sons reside in Troy, Michigan.
