Exide Elects New Chief Executive Officer; Robert A. Lutz Joins Exide December 1st
    READING, Pa., Nov. 16 -- Exide Corporation , the
world's leading manufacturer of lead-acid batteries, today announced the
election of Robert A. Lutz as Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer.
He assumes this role December 1, 1998.
    Lutz, former vice Chairman, President and Chief Operating Officer of
Chrysler Corporation, was a major architect of the second turnaround and rapid
return to success of Chrysler.
