Borg-Warner Automotive Air/Fluid Systems Employee Receives Ford's Customer-Driven Quality Award
CHICAGO, Nov. 13 -- An employee of the Water Valley,
Mississippi operation of Borg-Warner Automotive's Air/Fluid Systems group was
part of a Ford Motor Company team that was recently honored by Ford
with a Customer-Driven Quality Award (CDQA). The CDQA, which is typically
reserved for internal Ford teams, recognizes distinguished achievements toward
increased customer satisfaction.
Franz Nickel, Product Engineer for transmission solenoid products at the
Water Valley plant, was recognized as a significant contributor to the CD4E
Main Control VFS Design Improvement Team from Ford's Batavia, Ohio
transmission assembly plant. The team, which included Mr. Nickel and seven
Ford employees, was among 120 teams representing Ford manufacturing facilities
from around the world that applied for the award. The CD4E transmission
solenoid assembly that is manufactured at the Water Valley plant is a major
component in the main control system of the transmission.
"The accomplishments of Franz and his Ford team members in addressing and
resolving the CD4E transmission 'buzz' issue have improved product quality,
productivity, and most importantly, customer satisfaction," said Gary
Fukayama, president of Borg-Warner Automotive Air/Fluid Systems.
"At Borg-Warner Automotive we strive for product leadership on a daily
basis. Franz's inclusion in the Ford CDQA is an excellent example of the kind
of exceptional results that are possible when we work in close partnership
with our customers toward this goal," Fukayama said.
