SDRC Lands Long Term I-DEAS Contract from ABB
CINCINNATI--Nov. 12, 1998--SDRC , developer of I-DEAS(TM) design automation software and Metaphase(R) Enterprise(TM) product data management software, today announced that it has signed a contract for I-DEAS Master Series(TM) software and related services from the Business Unit Motors and Machines within ABB's Automation Segment. The contract is planned to involve ABB offices in several European countries, including Finland, Sweden, Switzerland, Italy and France. The contract is for an initial 47 seats but could, if ABB exercises all contract options, be expanded to cover more than 180 seats estimated over the term of the agreement.I-DEAS was the winner in an extensive benchmark of several highly-rated software packages. The Business Unit Motors and Machines chose I-DEAS as the core software suite for current and future design and automated order processing. "We expect the I-DEAS software to cut engineering lead-time significantly, not only in research and development projects, but also for order processing. This is a clear demand from ABB to increase customer values in a competitive market," says ABB's BU Motors and Machines Manager, Bernhard Jucker.
"As we see more and more major manufacturers standardizing on I-DEAS, it's extremely gratifying for those of us at SDRC to know that we are clearly becoming the partner of choice for companies -- such as ABB -- who are driven by time-to-market issues," said Bill Weyand, SDRC's Chairman, President, and CEO. "ABB is definitely a strategic player in the European arena, and we look forward to working closely with them as they initiate their deployment of I-DEAS."
