UTC Names Robert Harris Vice President, Executive Education
    HARTFORD, Conn., Nov. 10 -- United Technologies Corp.
today announced the appointment of Dr. Robert S. Harris as its
vice president, executive education and development.
    Harris, 48, will report to William Bucknall, UTC's senior vice president
for human resources and organization.
    Harris joins UTC from the University of Virginia's Darden School of
Business where he serves as the school's C. Stewart Sheppard Professor of
Business Administration.  He joined the Darden faculty in 1988.
    Harris will lead and direct corporation's education, training and
development programs and will be responsible for the development and
implementation of UTC's newly formed management education program with Darden.
    The management development alliance with Darden will include classroom
curriculum, case studies, and research projects involving the joint efforts of
UTC executives, Darden faculty and students.
    Prior to joining the faculty at Darden, Harris taught at the University of
North Carolina and the University of Pennsylvania.  He was a visiting
professor at the London Business School.
    An active consultant and author in the areas of corporate finance and
business education, Harris received his bachelor's degree from Davidson
College in 1971 and his doctorate degree in economics from Princeton
University in 1977.
    The Darden School is recognized as one of the world's leading business
schools. It is known for its case method teaching and course development.
Darden offers a two-year M.B.A. program and over 100 management development
programs to 4,000 executives a year.
