Turbodyne Signs First Supply Contract With Waste Disposal Company
WOODLAND HILLS, Calif.--Nov. 10, 1998--Turbodyne Technologies Inc. (Easdaq:TRBD.) Tuesday announced that a supply contract has been signed with MarBorg Industries, the largest waste management company serving Santa Barbara County, Calif.
The contract was signed at the conclusion of a successful pilot program conducted with MarBorg Industries on two representative vehicles of MarBorg's fleet of approximately 45 vehicles.
The contract, which provides for immediate equipping of five MarBorg trucks with Turbopac units pending an executive order from the California Air Resources Board, makes MarBorg Industries Turbodyne's first customer in the waste management industry to sign a supply contract.
Negotiations and pilot programs are currently in progress with other waste disposal companies with truck fleets in excess of 50,000 vehicles.
Mario Borgatello, president of MarBorg Industries, commented: "As a waste management company we are very aware of the prudent use of natural resources and the impact on the environment.
"Consequently we were looking for the most efficient and cleanest mode of operation that is presently available for our trucks, voluntarily choosing Turbodyne's Turbopacs, which help us exceed air quality standards set by California Environmental Protection Agency and the California Air Resources Board (CARB) for the benefit of the citizens of the community we serve.
"Turbodyne's enabling technology is by far the most convincing. It increases power, improves driveability and reduces the creation of harmful pollutants and emissions. As we work for a clean environment we are complemented by Turbodyne's solution of enabling diesel-powered engines, as in our trucks, to burn much cleaner, complying with recent rulings.
"In addition, my drivers love the power increase and I have been recommending Turbodyne to other waste management companies," Borgatello concluded.
Although the successful pilot program and the resulting supply contract are to address elimination of black smoke and reduction of particulate matter (PM) in response to environmental regulations in California, the contract also provides for a new pilot program to be conducted jointly with the environmental boards for reduction of NOx pollution which Turbodyne's patented technology can reduce to the levels established by EPA for the year 2002.
Voluntary NOx reduction by trucking fleets will qualify for substantial cash pollution credits of up to $2,000.00 per vehicle in California.
Edward M. Halimi, founder and chairman of Turbodyne, commented: "The waste disposal industry has been the subject of great attention in our sales effort, and the contract with MarBorg Industries is a breakthrough in the highly visible waste disposal industry, which by virtue of their operation in residential areas is subject to constant scrutiny for meeting air quality standards."
