NORTHRIDGE, Calif.--Nov. 10, 1998--Soligen Technologies Inc. (AMEX:SGT.EC), Tuesday announced the hiring of Kevin A. Charbonneau as vice president of sales, and the appointment of Charles W. Lewis to the newly created position of vice president of quality assurance.Charbonneau brings a proven track record in sales management, value added solution selling and strategic account development. For 13 years, he progressed through various industrial sales and marketing management positions at General Electric Co., and more recently was vice president of marketing & sales at Assembly & Manufacturing Systems Inc. "Adding Mr. Charbonneau to our team adds substantial sales management discipline and experience which will enhance our ability to rapidly grow Soligen's Parts Now service," said Yehoram Uziel, president and CEO. "Kevin's leadership and his invaluable training at GE, combined with a very high level of energy and focus, are the assets that Soligen needs to elevate the company's sales to meet the next level of revenues and profitability.
"Appointing Mr. Lewis to the newly created position of VP for quality assurance reinforces Soligen's commitment to quality and the pursuit of ISO-quality certification throughout the organization."
In the last three months, Soligen has added three new direct sales engineers to its sales force in the Midwest and Canada in response to increasing interest in Parts Now and DSPC technology in the automotive and heavy machinery industries. Soligen operates sales offices in Detroit; Cleveland; Tama, Iowa; Northridge; and Toronto. Soligen now has a sales team deployed to grow sales quickly with key customers in the company's core businesses.
Soligen's DSPC technology is a proprietary fabrication process for metal parts that produces ceramic molds for metal casting directly from a CAD file. By using the DSPC technology, Soligen is able to produce a first article metal part, bypassing the traditional need for tooling.
Consequently, it enables to postpone the design and the fabrication of expensive and time-consuming casting tooling until after the parts are functionally tested, thus increasing the probability of making such production tooling once and correctly on this first attempt.
Additionally, Soligen produces production tooling for larger runs of metal castings from the same CAD file as the approved part. By combining three key production elements: DSPC technology, conventional casting methods and Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) machine practices, the company has created the first "one-stop shop" for functional metal parts that are made directly from a CAD file and that are ready for assembly. This complete service, trademarked as Parts Now, has become a single source for out-sourcing of metal parts.
