Nissan Reports October Sales
CARSON, Calif., Nov. 3 -- The Nissan Division of Nissan Motor
Corporation U.S.A. (NMC) today announced October sales of 40,919 units. The
Nissan Altima led the division with sales of 10,390 units, up 16.7 percent
versus last year.
Nissan's Sentra sales also were up over last year, with 7,703 units for a
5.7 percent increase. Sales for the flagship Maxima were 5,339 units,
bringing total sedan sales to 23,432 units.
Leading truck sales was the Nissan Frontier, with sales of 8,794 units.
The Pathfinder had sales of 4,942 units. Quest reported sales of 2,017 units.
Quest sales were impacted by low 1998 inventories during the fall sell-down
period as production shifts to the incoming all-new 1999 Quest. Total truck
sales were 15,753 units, down 18.7 percent versus last year.
Sales of Nissan's North American-produced vehicles for October totaled
30,458 units, which represents 67.6 percent of all Nissan vehicles sold in the
United States. Nissan Division sales for the month were down 13.2 percent
versus last year. Calendar year-to-date sales for Nissan Division totaled
472,324 units, down 17.1 percent versus last year.
Total NMC sales for October, including Nissan and Infiniti Divisions, were
47,608 units. Combined calendar year-to-date sales for Nissan and Infiniti
Divisions were 522,725 units.
