Audi Records Best Sales Month of 1998 - Surpasses its Full Year 1997 Level with Year-To-Date Total

    AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Nov. 3 -- Audi of America, Inc. reported
that as of October 1998, Audi has sold 36,924 vehicles, which surpasses its
full 1997 year sales of 34,160.  U.S. sales for the month of October also
showed a marked increase with sales of 4,619 making it Audi's best sales month
of 1998.  These results represent a 137 percent increase over the same month
last year when sales were 1,952.
    That made it Audi's best October since 1986 and best year-to-date since
1987.  Models with the greatest sales were Audi's A6 sedan and Avants at 2,287
for the month versus last year's 594 vehicles sold, representing a 285 percent
increase.  Audi's A4 sedans and Avants follow closely behind with sales of
2,084 for the month of October versus last year's sales of 1,110, showing an
87.7 percent increase.  Audi's A8 showed continued growth with sales of 205
for the month as compared to 178 for the same month last year.  This marks a
15.2 percent increase over last year for Audi's all-aluminum flagship model.
    Audi has demonstrated this kind of year-over-previous-year sales increase
for 45 of the last 47 months.
