Ameritech and AXENT Team to Provide ANX Network Educational Seminars
ROCKVILLE, Md.--Nov. 2, 1998--
Industry Leaders Will Demonstrate the Most Efficient and
Secure Way to Connect to the World's Largest VPN --
Automotive Network eXchange
AXENT Technologies, Inc. , one of the world's largest information security solution providers, today announced the launch of Automotive Network eXchange(R) (ANX(R)) educational seminars in conjunction with Ameritech(R) and Compaq Computer Corporation. The seminars will demonstrate to automotive industry attendees how the ANX Network will improve electronic business to business communications and how they can access the ANX Network.
Endorsed by such companies as Chrysler(TM), Ford(TM) and General Motors(TM), the ANX network is an efficient, secure data communications network that links automotive suppliers and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) electronically over a single connection. Once fully deployed, the ANX network will be the world's largest VPN and will potentially cut communications costs by billions of dollars, translating into savings for automotive manufacturers, suppliers, dealers and consumers. Ameritech passed stringent certification measures to become an ANX certified service provider (CSP). Ameritech's AutoVAN(SM) service provides automotive suppliers the tools they need to access the ANX Network. AXENT(TM)'s Raptor(R) Firewall holds the distinct honor as the first IPSec VPN server to be certified for ANX on Windows NT(R). Performance benchmark data is available for the Raptor Firewall running on Compaq(R) servers, the number one vendor in the industry standard server market.
"Ameritech and AXENT join together in their commitment to provide automotive industry vendors with information and a better understanding of the capabilities of Virtual Private Networking (VPN) through ANX," said Marc Shinbrood, senior vice president, business development at AXENT. "Our interoperable solutions provide ANX trading partners with high performance, reliable and standards-based components needed for secure electronic commerce and data transfer."
"Our collaborative effort with AXENT provides automotive suppliers access to their trading partners in a more efficient and secure manner than standard Internet solutions," said Brian Buffington, director of marketing, Ameritech General Business Services.
The free seminars will take place the mornings of November 17 and 18, 1998, in Detroit and Cleveland, respectively. Attendees will learn how the ANX network will provide you with quick, reliable and efficient access to your trading partners--eliminating confusion and costly delays. A customer success story will also be presented that shows how businesses are already taking advantage of improved information access to reduce time-to-market, lower inventories and increase intercompany collaboration in the automotive industry.
Officials from Ameritech and AXENT will be available to answer any questions about their ANX-approved products and services. Additional information and online registration are available at http://www.axent.com.
