Avis Fields New Team to Gain Association Business
    GARDEN CITY, N.Y., Oct. 29 -- Avis Rent A Car, Inc.
today announced creation of a new team designed to widen and
strengthen coverage of the rental car company's business with associations.
    Promoted to the newly created position of Director of Group Sales was
James R. Hommen.  Hommen will be responsible for achieving deeper penetration
of the association market through a broadening and redefining Avis'
association business.  Hommen has been with Avis for 15 years and was formerly
National Account Manager in Southern California.  He will report to Jim Krapf,
Avis Vice President for Group Sales, who created Avis' association program in
the mid-1970s.
    Two former Regional Association Sales Managers, Beth Schoeller and Fred
Weber, were promoted to National Association Sales Managers and will report to
Hommen.  Schoeller, who has been with Avis for seven years, worked for Avis in
Washington, DC. Prior to joining Avis, she worked for Choice Hotels
International.  Weber, who has been with the company for 12 years, worked in
Chicago.  Prior to joining Avis, he worked with American Express.
    Additional administrative staff and a dedicated association marketing
manager will round out the staff.
