NEW YORK, Oct. 29 -- Playboy is speeding into the high-end
collectible market with a limited edition motorcycle. The newest entry into
Playboy's product line underlines the company's shift toward targeting the
trend-setting, cutting edge segment of the consumer market. Only 100
individually numbered motorcycles will be produced, adding to the cache of
owning such a high-end machine. Titan is known as the top-of-the-line
motorcycle in the V-twin market, making it a perfect complement for Playboy, a
brand that is already among the most recognizable in the world.
"Only 100 owners will enjoy this unique way of experiencing the Playboy
lifestyle as reality," says David Oates, vice president of domestic licensing,
PEI. "In addition, the power of the Playboy brand will reach a new market.
This machine truly exemplifies our motto: life, liberty and the pursuit of
dreams."
Playboy and Titan Motorcycle Co. of America, under an exclusive agreement,
are producing this motorcycle which commemorates Playboy's 45th anniversary.
Each bike will feature dramatic, hand-applied graphic treatments of Playboy's
45th anniversary logo (by Playboy Chief Design Officer Tom Staebler) and the
world-famous Rabbit Head Design.
This collectors' series goes on sale at select dealerships throughout the
United States beginning in late 1998. The motorcycle is powered by a V-twin,
2 cylinder engine that provides more than 100 horsepower to the rear wheel.
It also features a 107 inch motor equaling 1750 ccs. Each motorcycle boasts
hand-built craftsmanship and is built from the ground up by one highly-trained
technician.
"We are excited to have a prestigious company like Playboy as our
partner," comments Mark Green, national sales manager and marketing director,
Titan Motorcycle, Co. "Playboy is a powerful and exciting international
brand. Bringing them into our business has benefited our whole industry."
