Micropoint Announces Award of Fifth Patent On Proprietary Technology and Design
SALT LAKE CITY--Oct. 27, 1998--
The company has added a patent on its design of a two-wire
interface circuit for an automobile horn relay to four other patents
covering Micropoint's unique Bend Sensor(R) technology and its
applications.
Micropoint Inc. (MICP - news) Tuesday announced the award of its fifth patent.
The latest patent concerns a two-wire assembly for a horn relay switch in an automotive horn control system based on Micropoint's proprietary Bend Sensor(R) technology. The company's first two patents cover its flexible potentiometer technology trademarked under the name Bend Sensor(R).
The subsequent two patents cover the use of Bend Sensor(R) technology in an automobile horn control system, and a horn control system responsive to the rapid changes in resistance of a Bend Sensor(R) device. Micropoint has one more patent approved for issue covering its horn circuitry design.
Additionally, the company is aggressively pursuing other patents for various applications of Bend Sensor(R) technology in Micropoint's advanced airbag detection and automobile safety systems market.
"Micropoint will continue to pursue patents for its proprietary technology and engineering design," said Doug Odom, president and chief executive officer of Micropoint. "These patents, particularly in emerging growth areas like advanced airbag detection systems, represent a huge competitive advantage for the company."
Micropoint's unique Bend Sensor(R) device measures a predictable change in electrical resistance as it is deflected. It is capable of precisely measuring minutely small to very large changes in position.
Flexible and self-contained Bend Sensor(R) technology can provide an ideal solution to problems associated with numerous applications requiring accurate sensing devices in many industries. The Bend Sensor(R) is thinner, lighter, longer-lived, more reliable and more cost-effective than many previous devices in the sensor industry.
Micropoint designs, manufactures, and markets through its operating subsidiary Flexpoint revolutionary flexible Bend Sensor(R) technology for various industries, including the automotive, medical, industrial, aerospace and toy industries. Micropoint's stock recently began trading under the symbol MICP.
