SDRC to Resell Moldflow's Part Adviser; Extending SDRC's Existing Moldflow Relationship by Adding Increased Functionality for the Simulation of Injection Molded Plastic Parts
CINCINNATI--Oct. 27, 1998--SDRC , a leading global provider of product development solutions and developer of I-DEAS(TM) and Metaphase(R) Enterprise(TM) software, announced today that, effective immediately, it will resell Moldflow's Part Adviser(TM) product. Part Adviser is used during preliminary design to quickly determine the manufacturability of injection molded plastic parts. This agreement extends an existing relationship between SDRC and Moldflow Corporation, the world leader in process wide plastics simulation. The integration of Part Adviser into I-DEAS Master Series(TM) addresses the ever-increasing role for plastics in the development of products in all major industries.
"The availability of Part Adviser within the I-DEAS suite of software products will allow us to serve a greater number of our customers' needs for simulating the manufacturing process of injection molded parts," said Bill Carrelli, vice president of marketing, SDRC. "With this expansion of our relationship, we will now be able to address the requirements of the designer - with Part Adviser - as well as meet the more sophisticated needs of advanced plastics simulation with a number of other solutions already available in our integrated CAE product offerings."
Part Adviser helps companies optimize plastic parts by addressing key manufacturing concerns up-front in preliminary design, where changes can be made quickly and affordably. Working directly from solid models, Part Adviser informs users of problems such as weld lines, air traps, and short shots. The software helps them understand how material selection and design modifications affect the manufacture of their part. It features an easy-to-interpret Confidence-of-Fill(TM) plot, Internet-ready reports, and real time Dynamic Advisers(TM), which display temperature and pressure distribution values, fill time status, and design advice.
"We are very pleased to be extending our relationship with SDRC, and with their decision to resell Part Adviser for I-DEAS Master Series," said Ken Welch, vice president of marketing at Moldflow Corporation. "With the addition of Part Adviser to their other Moldflow offerings, SDRC now provides a comprehensive solution for optimizing plastic parts through simulation."
