The contract, which is effective immediately, specifies Mexmil as the primary sponsor for Simon's entry in the 1999 Indy Racing League (IRL).
The Mexmil Company entered the racing venue earlier this year through its sponsorship of the Phoenix Racing Team. It also marked its entry into motorsports with the introduction of its first racing industry product, a "diaper" absorption device, certified by the IRL.
"We were pleased with the results of our first year in racing and were impressed with the expertise with which Dick Simon managed his crew as well as the engineering tactics he employed with the race car," said Mark Molus, president of Mexmil.
Simon is an auto racing veteran of more than 30 years. His exceptional ability as both a driver and racecar engineer has earned top industry awards, including the Louis Meyer Award in 1997. The selected driver will drive a top performance car that will include the G-Force chassis and the Oldsmobile Aurora V-8 engine. In addition, Simon will be working closely with the G-Force engineering department in the development and testing of their new chassis and will also receive the Aurora V-8 engine and technical support from Roush Racing.
