Dana Australia Selected by GM Holden Limited to Supply Modules for Australian-Built Passenger Cars

    TOLEDO, Ohio, Oct. 26 -- Dana Corporation today
announced that its subsidiary, Dana Australia Pty Ltd, has been selected to
supply modules to Holden Limited, a General Motors Corporation
subsidiary, for its Commodore passenger cars manufactured in Australia.  The
project represents Dana's first modular program in the Asia Pacific region.
    Dana expects to supply 200,000 front corner modules and 100,000 rear
driving modules annually for the Commodore with the first shipment anticipated
in January 1999.  The modules will be assembled at Dana's facility in
Adelaide, Australia.
    "The new project with Holden is significant in that it will allow us to
demonstrate our extensive experience, gained as a leading systems integrator
in North America and South America, to a customer in the Asia Pacific region,"
said Mike Laisure, Dana's vice president, Modules & Systems Group.
    Added Gerry Turek, managing director for Dana's operations in Australia
and New Zealand, "We are particularly pleased at further developing our
presence in Adelaide and we are committed to continued growth in Australia by
providing innovative and cost-effective solutions to our customers."
    Dana established its Australian presence in 1970, growing to 31 facilities
in Australia and New Zealand producing components and systems for vehicular,
off-highway, and industrial original equipment manufacturers and their related
aftermarkets.
    Dana's global modular activity is wide ranging, involving 10 facilities in
seven nations.  This activity includes current projects with major original
equipment manufacturers such as Chrysler Corporation, Daimler-Benz AG, Fiat
Auto Argentina S.A., Ford Motor Company, GM, Mack Trucks Inc., Toyota Motor
Corporation, Volkswagen A.G., and A.B. Volvo.  These projects range from
corner modules to the world's first Rolling Chassis(TM) module for a light
truck, which Dana supplies to Chrysler for its Dodge Dakota pickup trucks
assembled in Brazil.
