Superior Industries Wins Exclusive Contracts to Supply Chrome Plated Aluminum Wheels for GM's New Denali and Escalade SUV's
VAN NUYS, Calif.--Oct. 23, 1998--Superior Industries International Inc. Friday announced that it has won exclusive, multi-year contracts to supply chrome plated aluminum road wheels for the new GMC Denali and Cadillac Escalade, the luxury models of GM's Yukon Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) Platform.
Shipments of wheels for the Escalade began recently. While all wheels for these vehicles are supplied by Superior Industries, shipments for the Denali began in the spring of 1998.
A company spokesperson said, "These contracts are the latest sign of the strength in the market for chrome plated aluminum road wheels and further evidence of Superior's leadership position in this business."
Noting that Superior already supplies chrome plated aluminum wheels for the Oldsmobile Intrigue, Buick Regal, Chevrolet Camaro, Pontiac Firebird and other GM models, as well as for several other major automotive manufacturers, the spokesperson added, "The growth Superior is now enjoying in its chrome plated wheel business validates the company's decision to enter this market just a few years ago."
Superior Industries supplies aluminum wheels to Ford, General Motors, Chrysler de Mexico, BMW, Volkswagen, Audi and Jaguar as well as various Japanese auto manufacturers including Toyota, Mazda, Nissan and Isuzu. The company is also a leading manufacturer of accessory products for the national automotive aftermarket.
