Federal-Mogul Announces Organizational Structure for Sealing Systems, Europe, Sales and Research and DevelopmentSOUTHFIELD, Mich., Oct. 22 -- Kevin Baird, vice president, Sealing Systems - Europe, announces the new organizational structure for sales, applications engineering, and research and development, Sealing Systems - Europe, effective November 1, 1998. The following appointment will report to Brian Williams, director of sales and technology, Federal-Mogul Sealing Systems - Europe: * Pierre-Yves Chaucesse, director, sales and engineering, France * Tom Fisher, director, sales and engineering, aftermarket * Graham Manning, director, sales and engineering, United Kingdom * Paul Percival, director, technology * Alain Retiere, director, application engineering * Idris Ross, director, sales and engineering, heavy-duty * Walter Ruzza, director, sales and engineering, Italy * Lothar Schnell, director, sales and engineering, passenger cars "This new structure will take full advantage of Federal-Mogul's Sealing Systems technical capabilities in both research and development and manufacturing," said Baird. "By combining the best technical talents of the former decentralized teams, we are creating a multi-national structure to provide optimum solutions for our European customers' problems. At the same time, we are maintaining very strong local country support in order to provide the high level of service our customers have come to expect." This new organization is the first stage in the creation of two centers of excellence. The sales and application engineering activity will be based in Germany with a strong team dedicated to serving customers throughout Europe and the rest of the world. Customers will continue to receive local support from sales and technical staff located at Federal-Mogul Sealing Systems facilities in the United Kingdom, France and Italy. A highly experienced, world-class research and development team will be located in Cawston, England. This team will work in cooperation with Federal- Mogul Sealing Systems research and development in the United States and Federal-Mogul Technology, Cawston, England, to provide innovative sealing systems solutions to the market and to enhance current technologies. Pierre-Yves Chaucesse, Director, Sales and Engineering, France Pierre-Yves Chaucesse has been appointed director, sales and engineering, France. Chaucesse will have responsibility for the delivery of economic value added (EVA) positive sales growth and the support of the aftermarket sales team. He will also be responsible for business development activity on nominated accounts. Prior to this appointment, Chaucesse held the position of sales director, heavy-duty, France and Germany, at Lyon. Chaucesse joined Federal-Mogul from T&N, prior to which, he held various development and sales roles in the MATRA group and GIAT Industries group. Chaucesse earned a degree in mechanical engineering from the Ecole Nationale d'Ingenieurs, Saint Etienne, France, and graduated from the Institut de Controle de Gestion, Paris, France. Tom Fisher, Director, Sales and Engineering, Aftermarket Tom Fisher has been appointed director, sales and engineering, aftermarket. Fisher will have responsibility for the delivery of EVA positive sales and the evaluation of market opportunities in cooperation with Federal- Mogul's Worldwide Aftermarket. He will also be responsible for determining the Sealing Systems aftermarket make-or-buy policy to support sales growth in the market, as well as responsibility for design, specification and manufacturing site location. Prior to this appointment, Fisher held the position of director, aftermarket business, Sealing Systems, Europe. He joined Federal-Mogul from T&N, where he was a team member since 1992. He has held various management positions within Payen Components, South Africa, including business development and marketing. Graham Manning, Director, Sales and Engineering, United Kingdom Graham Manning has been appointed director, sales and engineering, United Kingdom. Manning will have responsibility for the delivery of EVA positive sales growth and support of the aftermarket sales team. He will also be responsible for business development activity on nominated accounts. Prior to this appointment, Manning held the position of director, sales and product technology, Federal-Mogul Sealing Systems, Slough, United Kingdom. Manning joined Federal-Mogul from T&N, where he was a team member since 1964. He has worked in many areas of the business including press tool design, sealing system design, development and engine testing. Manning has also held technical and commercial sales and management roles supporting OEM's in the United Kingdom and worldwide. Manning is an associate member of the Institute of Production Engineers. Paul Percival, Director, Technology, Europe Paul Percival has been appointed director, technology, Europe. Percival will be responsible for the origination and evaluation of new product concepts through product launch. He will also have responsibility for the enhancement of current technologies. Prior to this appointment, Percival held the position of director of advanced technology, Slough, United Kingdom, where he led a team of engineers focused on the development of new sealing products and coordinated advanced sealing development at Federal-Mogul Technology, Rugby, England. Prior to joining Federal-Mogul, Percival worked with T&N since 1977. He has pursued a varied career in sealing products through sales, application engineering and research and development. Percival earned an Honors degree in mechanical engineering from the Imperial College of Science and Technology, London, England. Alain Retiere, Director, Application Engineering Alain Retiere has been appointed, director, application engineering. In this new role, Retiere will be responsible for the origination of product designs, design FMEA, design support and validation, and product costing, testing and analysis. Prior to this appointment, Retiere held the position of steel and elastomer product development director, Sealing Systems, Lyon. Retiere joined Federal-Mogul from T&N, at which he was employed since 1992. Prior to T&N, Retiere held manufacturing and engineering positions in Sermo Industries and Valeo. Retiere earned a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Nantes, France and a degree in rubber technology from ESICA in Montrouge, France. Idris Ross, Director, Sales and Engineering, Heavy-Duty Idris Ross has been appointed director, sales and engineering, heavy-duty. Ross' key responsibilities will be the delivery of EVA positive sales growth and the development of the heavy-duty diesel business through technical and commercial leadership. He will also be the product champion for dynamic sealing and will promote these products, providing both technical and commercial leadership. Prior to this appointment, Ross held the position of director, sales and application engineering, dynamic seals, Cardiff, Wales. Ross has held managerial positions in material development, quality and business development. Ross qualified in polymer technology at the College of Advanced Technology, Cardiff, Wales, and the National College of Rubber Technology, London, England. Walter Ruzza, Director, Sales and Engineering, Italy Walter Ruzza has been appointed director, sales and engineering, Italy. Ruzza will have responsibility for the delivery of EVA positive sales growth and the support of the aftermarket sales team. He will also be responsible for business development activity on nominated accounts. Prior to this appointment, Ruzza held the position of OE Sealing Systems account manager, Sealing Systems, Turin, Italy. Ruzza joined Federal-Mogul from T&N, where he was a team member since 1993. He has 13 years experience in the management of automotive component sales and design. Prior to joining T&N, he worked with SKF as sales and engineering manager. Ruzza was awarded Perito Industriale Specializzazione Meccanica following five years study in Turin, Italy. Lothar Schnell, Director, Sales and Engineering, Passenger Cars Lothar Schnell has been appointed director, sales and engineering, passenger cars. Schnell will be responsible for the delivery of EVA positive sales growth and the development of the passenger car business through technical and commercial leadership. Schnell will also be the product champion for heatshields and will promote these products, providing both technical and commercial leadership. Prior to this appointment, Schnell held the position of director, sales and marketing, Herdorf, Germany. Prior to joining Federal-Mogul, Schnell held positions in quality, application engineering, OE sales and business team management of the piston ring division of AE Goetze, which he joined in 1982. Schnell earned the degree, Diplom Ingenieur, in mechanical engineering and marketing from Koln University, Germany. In addition to these appointments, Federal-Mogul announced that Steve Mathers, director, product sales and marketing, Rochdale, England, will be leaving the company to pursue other opportunities. "Steve has made significant contributions to the development of the heatshield business," said Baird. "We wish him every success for the future."
