Detroit Diesel Secures DDC/MTU Series 2000 Haul Truck Order
DETROIT, Oct. 19 -- Detroit Diesel Corporation
announced today that Unit Rig, a mining division of Terex Corporation, and
Coal India have selected the DDC/MTU 16V2000 engine to power 160 haul trucks.
The Unit Rig 120 ton haul truck, powered by the 16V2000 engine, will provide
the mining market significant advantages in extended life, high reliability,
superior fuel economy and reduced cost of operation.
Nick Vermet, Senior Vice President of Off-Highway Products for Detroit
Diesel, said, "The DDC/MTU Series 2000 engine is an integral part of our
'Power Evolution' program which represents the latest in engine technology at
Detroit Diesel. We are pleased with Coal India's selection of the Series 2000
engine based on performance, economy, low operating costs and Detroit Diesel's
focus on customer satisfaction." The DDC/MTU Series 2000 engine represents
the combined capabilities of MTU (Motoren- und Turbinen-Union Friedrichschafen
GmbH) and Detroit Diesel Corporation.
Features of the DDC/MTU 16V2000, rated at 1205 hp, include a patented unit
pump injection system controlled by the proven DDEC system. The construction
and industrial Series 2000 family includes 8, 12 and 16 cylinder models with
horsepower from 525-1340. The commonality of design is beneficial to all

training are all reduced.
