IMPCO Technologies Elects Chairman and New Board Member


    CERRITOS, Calif.--Oct. 16, 1998--IMPCO Technologies Inc. , Friday announced the election of Robert M. Stemmler, president and chief executive officer, to the additional position of chairman of the board.
    Stemmler previously served as interim chairman, succeeding Peter B. Bensinger, who resigned in June 1998. The company also announced that Ulrich Ruetz has been elected to the company's board of directors, replacing Robert Colton who did not stand for reelection. Ruetz, 58, is chairman and chief executive officer of BERU Aktiengesellschaft, with headquarters in Ludwigsburg, Germany.
    Prior to joining BERU in 1983 as managing director, Ruetz served in a number of senior level positions with environmental-related companies in the United States and Germany. From 1972 to 1975 he was president of Passavant Corp. of Birmingham, Ala., a wastewater treatment equipment company. He also has served as a member of the executive board of Passavantwerks Germany.
    Stemmler said: "We welcome Ulrich Ruetz to our board. His extensive background in the motor vehicle and environmental industries will serve us well as we pursue our strategic objective of global expansion in the alternative fuels market."
