Southeast Toyota Announces Record September Sales

    MIAMI, Oct. 13 -- Bolstered by strong sales of the all-new
Camry Solara, Southeast Toyota Distributors, Inc. reported today the best-ever
September retail sales in its 29-year history. The company's former September
record, set in 1996, was surpassed by eight percent.
    In addition to Camry Solara, sales leaders for September included the
Kentucky-built Avalon, up 139 percent over the year-ago month, the North
American-built Corolla, up 14 percent, and the California-built
two-wheel-drive Tacoma pickup, up four percent.
    "Buyers are discovering the all-new Camry Solara offers mid-size comfort
and value, without sacrificing expressive styling and performance," said
Southeast Toyota General Manager John Williams. "This gives our dealers a
strong new offering in the sports specialty segment of the market. Today's
sporty coupe buyer will find Camry Solara tough to beat."
    Ranked first among Toyota's American distributors in sales and customer
