New Leaders Will Drive Visteon Into the 21st CenturyDEARBORN, Mich., Oct. 12 -- Moving beyond its launch phase and preparing for the competitive challenges of the next millennium, Visteon Automotive Systems today is announcing a series of new management appointments. "The management team that launched Visteon into the automotive supplier industry has done an outstanding job during the first year," said Charles W. Szuluk, president, Visteon Automotive Systems. "Visteon's management team must now focus on building on this success into the next millennium. Craig Muhlhauser, with the leadership he has demonstrated in helping Visteon become a market-driven and customer focused business, is the ideal candidate to lead the next phase of Visteon's growth strategy." "As we move into the next century, we must prove to the marketplace that we have what it takes to become the world's leading automotive supplier," said Craig Muhlhauser, future president, Visteon Automotive Systems. "Our management team is focused on leading the 82,000 people of Visteon along a path that makes our customers, our people and our shareholders successful." The following appointments will take effect November 1, 1998 and report to Craig Muhlhauser: * Alexander J. Preston, 42, is named vice president, Supply and Process Leadership succeeding Stephen W. Delaney. He will have responsibility for implementing new business processes and information technology enablers and managing the supply chain. Preston, a 14 year veteran, comes to Visteon from Ford Automotive Operations where he was director, Process Reengineering. * James B. Smith III, 52, is named vice president, Business Planning and Strategy, a newly created position which consolidates Business Development and Planning and New Market Development. Smith was vice-president, New Market Development. Lawrence M. Kazanowski, 56, is vice president Business Development and Planning and has elected to retire after 33 years of service. The following appointments will report to Robert Womac, executive vice president, Visteon and are also effective November 1, 1998: * Stephen W. Delaney, 39, is appointed vice president & general manager, Interior Systems succeeding Roger Saillant. He is presently vice president, Supply and Process Leadership. * Marcos S. Oliveira, 38, is appointed vice president & general manager, Electronics Systems succeeding Gary Vander Haagen, 57, who has elected to retire after 22 years of service. He is presently director, Advanced Technology. * Roger B. Saillant, 55, is appointed vice president & general manager, Powertrain Control Systems succeeding David H. Boerger, 50, who is moving to a position at Ford Automotive Operations. Roger is presently vice president & general manager, Interior Systems. * Paula Winkler-Doman, 45, is appointed vice president & general manager, Glass Division succeeding Mohindrapal (Paul) S. Gill, 57, who has elected to retire after 34 years of service. Paula is presently operations manager, Climate Control Systems. * Rohintan K. Deputy, 50, is appointed director, Advanced Technology, succeeding Marcos Oliveira. Rohintan is presently a chief engineer.
