Object Management Group's CORBA Tutorial Available for Download

    FRAMINGHAM, Mass.--Oct. 6, 1998--

OMG Members Can Now Access Premier CORBA Training

The Object Management Group announced today that it has made its "CORBA Academy Tutorial" training presentation available for download via its Web site. This tutorial enables OMG members to bring CORBA training right to the developer, minimizing cost and time taken from work.
The OMG's CORBA Academy Tutorial is aimed at teaching the basics of OMG's Common Object Request Broker Technology (CORBA) and how to implement it. CORBA is becoming the dominant architecture for building distributed computing systems and businesses are currently seeking developers who are knowledgeable in CORBA. The course was developed by Dr. Jon Siegel, Director of Domain Technology at OMG and author of the best-seller, CORBA Fundamentals and Programming.
William Hoffman, President and COO of the OMG, said, "We are glad to make the CORBA Academy Tutorial available as a benefit of OMG membership. CORBA is the premier technology for building distributed systems and it is being deployed by a rapidly growing number of companies -- and these companies need programmers with CORBA skills. One look at the help wanted section of any newspaper tells you that the need for developers with knowledge of CORBA is just exploding. This course will enable our members to provide their developers a `quick-start' program to get working with CORBA fast."
The CORBA Academy Tutorial will primarily benefit cutting edge programmers who need to learn how to build distributed systems. Participants should have a basic understanding of object oriented design and programming concepts and some knowledge of C++ or Smalltalk programming languages. This tutorial is available free to OMG members at http://www.omg.org/members/accept.htm. For information on becoming an OMG member, or to join, call +1-508-420 4300 or see OMG's web site at http://www.omg.org/about/meminf.htm.
