New Levels of Performance, Modeling, and Access Available With Latest Release of MSC/NASTRAN for Windows
LOS ANGELES--Oct. 6, 1998--The MacNeal- Schwendler Corp. (MSC) Tuesday announced Version 4 of MSC/NASTRAN for Windows.
This mid-range priced version of MSC/NASTRAN contains a number of enhancements that result in faster time to market through improved solid modeling and meshing tools, and an updated, faster version of the MSC/NASTRAN solver. A new floating license greatly expands access to the program. First shipments are scheduled before the end of the year.
Users will benefit from the substantial improvements highlighted in this new release. In addition to the faster version of the MSC/NASTRAN solver, significant speed improvements have been made to accessing and display post-analysis results, and faster display of graphics during model manipulation.
User-requested nodal force display and free body diagrams, along with the new "smart results averaging technique," make the understanding of results considerably easier.
Another major benefit of this release is significantly easier and faster meshing. The new semi-automatic hex meshing techniques make the process of building a finite element model much simpler. Material and property assignments can be made directly to the geometry, prior to the meshing process. This offers users greater flexibility in the creation of finite element models.
Other enhancements include a general beam section calculator and a new set of tools to create mid-plane models from solid entities. A new STEP interface adds to the extensive array of CAD integration tools.
"Faster analysis times, accelerated graphics, and improved meshing tools combine to make this new version of MSC/NASTRAN for Windows a remarkably efficient analysis system, and serve to drastically shorten the task of product analysis," said Alastair Robertson, MSC/NASTRAN for Windows product manager.
"With time to market of paramount importance, MSC/NASTRAN for Windows continues to match the great performance improvements available in the latest hardware platforms."
