Jaguar Posts Increase for September and Third Quarter
MAHWAH, N.J., Oct. 5 -- Jaguar Cars today announced that its
September sales in the United States totaled 1,653 cars, up 20 percent
compared with September 1997, and sales for the third quarter totaled
5,369, up 27 percent compared with the same period last year.
Sedan sales of 1,321 in September were up 60 percent compared with
September 1997, and sedan sales for the third quarter totaled 4,170, up
66 percent compared with the same period a year ago.
"We're pleased to turn in a strong month and a strong quarter," says
Michael H. Dale, president of Jaguar North America. "Our results today
continue a strong year for Jaguar and demonstrate that we're providing our
customers excellent products and an outstanding sales experience."
In Canada, Jaguar sales for September totaled 97 sedans and sports cars,
up 131 percent compared with September 1997. Canadian sales for the third
quarter were 270 cars, up 40 percent compared with the same period a year ago.
Jaguar's product lineup in the U.S. and Canada includes: the XJ8, XJ8 L
(not available in Canada), Vanden Plas and XJR sedans, and the XK8 coupe and
convertible. Jaguar's entire lineup features the award-winning 4.0-liter
AJ-V8 engine as well as Jaguar's distinctive styling both inside and out.
