Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association Says It Takes About 3,800 Different Parts to Build the Average Car
    RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., Oct. 5 -- The Motor & Equipment
Manufacturers Association (MEMA) says it takes approximately 3,800 different
parts (identified by unique part numbers) to build the average car.  Since a
car has more than one of each part _- for example, a tire is one part, but a
car has five tires _- nearly 35,000 separate items are used to build each car.
