Donnelly Receives Modular Window Order Worth $335 Million
HOLLAND, Mich., Oct. 5 /PRNewswire -- One of Donnelly Corporation's
largest-ever automotive window orders, with sales expected to
total about $335 million over the life of the program, will start production
the summer of 2000, the company announced today. The order involves producing
about 2.5 million windows annually for an upcoming light truck platform.
Donnelly will produce the windows at its facilities in Holland, Michigan.
The windows use Donnelly's patented, single-sided bonding or encapsulation
processes. With these processes, all the window hardware is attached to the
interior side of the glass, allowing for a continuous smooth, flush-glass
appearance on the outside of the vehicle. Donnelly currently produces single-
sided, fully flush windows for several U.S.-built vehicles.
"Our single-sided processes are great examples of the original, innovative
window technologies Donnelly has consistently brought to the automotive
industry for the past 30 years," said Dwane Baumgardner, Donnelly chairman and
chief executive officer. "The flush windows have a clean, aerodynamic look
that adds to the overall design of a vehicle."
Donnelly is recognized as one of the most innovative automotive window
systems suppliers in the world, with window operations in North America,
Europe and Asia.
Donnelly Corporation is an international automotive supplier dedicated to
