Nissan Appoints New Regional Vice Presidents, Director of Marketing; Moves Build Strength and Depth in ManagementTORRANCE, Calif., Oct. 2 -- Nissan Motor Corporation, U.S.A. (NMC) today announced the appointments of three veteran Nissan employees to key positions that will strengthen the company's management regionally and nationally. Gary Frigo and Mark Igo were appointed regional vice presidents of Nissan's Mid-Atlantic and South Central Regions, respectively, while Ed Sheehy was promoted to director of Nissan marketing. "With 37 years of Nissan experience collectively, along with their superior performance, I know the appointment of these three talented executives will only add to our management strength," said Mike Seergy, vice president and general manager of Nissan Division. Frigo, previously director of operations for the Nissan Division, was appointed to regional vice president of Nissan's Mid-Atlantic Region. With 12 years at Nissan, he has extensive experience in dealer operations and regional marketing, which will play a vital role in his new position. Frigo is replacing Tom Center, who is pursuing other business interests. Igo was appointed to regional vice president of Nissan's South Central Region. Igo, who has been with Nissan for more than 15 years and has experience at the regional and national levels, most recently served as director of marketing for the Nissan Division. Known for his strong leadership skills and results-oriented work ethic, his appointment will enhance the solid management base already in place in the South Central Region. Igo replaces J.C. Fassino, who also left the company to pursue other business interests. In their new positions, both Frigo and Igo are responsible for overall operations -- including sales, marketing, fixed operations, administration and consumer affairs -- for their respective regions. With Igo's departure to the South Central Region, NMC promoted Ed Sheehy to replace him as director of Nissan marketing. Sheehy, who started with Nissan in 1984, brings a breadth of experience to his new role. He has served in numerous capacities within Nissan's field sales organization, as well as national marketing positions, including manager of remarketing and most recently as manager of marketing. In his new position, Sheehy is responsible for the development and management of the division's model-by-model marketing plan. This includes new product launches and integration of the marketing plan into the division's monthly sales plan. "Mark Igo, Gary Frigo and Ed Sheehy are major enhancements to our already capable national and field management teams," added Seergy. "These immediate appointments will provide smooth transitions for our operations by leveraging each individual's respective experience and depth. It also supports the momentum of our 'back to basics' strategy -- making us more flexible, responsive, efficient and competitive." With regard to the departure of Fassino and Center, Seergy commented: "We wish them well in their new endeavors."
