To date in 1998, Audi has sold 32,305 automobiles, a 29.6 percent increase

That made it Audi's best September since 1986 and best year-to-date since

for the month versus last year's 1,386 vehicles sold, representing a 41.2

sales of 1,496 for the month of September, compared to year ago sales for the
same month of 402, a 272.1 percent increase. Audi sold 206 A8s for the month,
representing a 7.9 percent increase over the same period last year with sales
of 191.
In mid-September, the Audi A8 achieved the top NHTSA safety rating for
both the driver and the front seat passenger, making it the first and only
member of the premium luxury class to earn the dual five-star rating under the
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's (NHTSA) New Car Assessment
Program (NCAP). The Audi A8 is Audi's all-aluminum luxury flagship, first
introduced to North America in the Fall of 1996, and employs a revolutionary
aluminum space frame body technology, the Audi Space Frame (ASF), created in
partnership with aluminum pioneer, Alcoa.
