Meritor Announces Toll-Free Telephone Number for Mexican Customers

    GUADALAJARA, Mexico, Oct. 1 --  Meritor Automotive, Inc.
has announced a new toll-free telephone number which will soon be
active for its heavy vehicle customers in Mexico.  By dialing 800-889-1834,
customers can speak to both English and Spanish speaking Meritor customer
service representatives to request a variety of information.
    "At Meritor, we believe actions speak louder than words and that service
policies mean nothing until they are implemented," said James H. Brown, vice
president of Sales for Meritor's Heavy Vehicle Systems business.  "While many
companies boast the claim of customer service, help is really just a phone
call away at Meritor."
    Meritor's customer service representatives receive extensive training on
all Meritor drivetrain components and procedures, and are able to answer
complex questions related to component repairs, maintenance and
troubleshooting.  They can also process requests for product literature,
warranty or specification information.
    Currently, Meritor's Customer Service Center receives approximately 400
calls per day from U.S. and Canadian customers, in which eight out of 10
customers have their questions or issues resolved on the first contact.  If a
representative cannot answer the question, he or she will find the appropriate
Meritor person to get the expertise required.
    "We are so proud to now be able to offer this same level of customer
service to OEMs, fleets, dealers, distributors and truck owner operators in
Mexico," said Brown.
